Vesicularia Montagnei (Christmas moss)

Vesicularia Montagnei or xmas moss is distinguished by its is fir tree branches. It requires trimming to keep its shape attractive. Most mosses left to grow for any extended duration ungroomed will look tattered and stringy with the exception of flame and erect moss.

Moss identification is often challenging because the hobbyist is unaware of the stage of growth for the specimen and often offers a photo of ashort trimming which resembles several types. Below is an sampling of the ages through which a moss will go through.
