Staurogyne sp. ‘Porto Velho’

Another great foreground plant in the hobby is the Staurogyne sp. Porto Velho which comes from Brazil. The beauty of this species comes from its narrow, lanceolate leaf form with the apiculate tip. Higher light will encourage a purple tinge on new leaves. Porto Velho has a creeping habit making this an excellent foreground in a larger (20g+)  tank. Its growth rate is relatively slow but pruning over the entire plant results in faster growth. A diet of macro/micro nutrients and strong light is required to maintain this plant in peak form.
