Bucephalandra Tissue Culturing

Bucephalandra harvesting has been aggressive these past few years, a practice which has brought many types of Cryptocoryne from rare to near extinction.

Tissue culturing has been cultivation method for propagating many species in demand and is only now extended to this species.

Exotic Aquatic in Melbourne, AU is embarking on this sustainable method of propagation is charging $15 per plant. In my humble opinion, these are actually preferred being algae/pest free plants with perfect leaves. As a former Buce purchaser, a percentage of leaves do come with leaf damage, holes and abnormally twisted in growth. I will support these businesses who can make efforts to make these beautiful plants available to all markets but most of all, using sustainable methods and not by destroying our habitats.
